Hi, my name is Ruth and I’m a recovering people pleaser. Whew, typing that makes me proud. Not because I was a serial people pleaser, but because I’ve acknowledged it and I’m steadily working on not going back to that place.  According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a people pleaser is defined as “a person who has an emotional need to please others often at the expense of his or her own needs or desires”.
